Planning My Fall & Winter Travel Adventures
As Fall is quickly approaching it is time to start to plan some travel adventures. On the list is London Ontario to visit my Mom. Also, we have talked a lot about a Montreal / Quebec City combo, or do we want to go to some place warmer like LA or maybe back to San Diego or San Francisco. Or maybe someplace easy like Portland; we know the city, easy to get around without a car and easy transit from the airport to downtown.
We are also thinking of winter trips, maybe Palm Springs and New Orleans has been on our list for a long time. Or do we go back to Europe, maybe Portugal or Spain.
First step is to check air fares and connections and for this I start with FlightHub as it allows round trip, one way, multi-city and last minute deals all of which work for us. And it is easy to use. A quick check as I write this and I see good deals to Seattle, San Francisco and Las Vegas – all under $500 round trip not a bad start.
I like the fact that it also gives me the best rate, shortest or most direct and a flexible date option. I hate going on airline sites and trying to find the best rate as they don’t allow you to see all the options. If you like you can give FlightHub your email and they will search for the best deal and get back to you whenever they see a better deal. It doesn’t get any easier than that – let them do the work.
FYI: when you log into FlightHub Canada all the prices are in CAD dollars which is useful if you are a Canadian traveller, or you can choose USD if that is your preference.
Where do we want to go?
We haven’t been to San Francisco in years, and I have always thought it would be fun to explore the Berkeley area as we love university districts, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is always fun to explore as is the Haight Ashbury district. A quick check with FlightHub for a mid-November trip got us non-stop trip on WestJet for just $297.18 all in for each.
A few years back we went to Palm Springs in early December and had a great time. Love the mid-century modern architecture, and the mid-century design shops. The Palm Springs Art Museum is a hidden gem and we loved the RoboLights art installation. Melvyn’s Sunday afternoon jam was very cool. Again, the website found a direct flight on WestJet in early December for $291.76 for each.
Just for fun I thought I would check out the cost to go to New Orleans for our birthdays which are both in March. New Orleans is a great food and music city, and it would be interesting to compare it to Nashville, Memphis and Austin which are other music cities we have visited. This time my FlightHub search was a little tougher as our options were either to leave very early in the morning and arrive mid-day at our destination both ways or leave early afternoon and get in by late evening - not ideal – unfortunately, there are no direct flights. The cost was not bad at $789 each.
Last Word
We still haven’t decided on our next travel adventure or where we want to go for our birthdays and our 45thwedding anniversary in 2025, but you can be sure we will be using FlightHub as part of our decision making.
