52 Street Photos from 2023

As 2023 comes to a close it is time to reflect on what one did during the past year. For me it is easy as I just have to do is look at my collection of photos. While I don’t take a photo every day, I do take photos most days be it a walk in my neighbourhood, on the golf course or in another city or town. Did you know that taking a photo everyday can improve your health and wellbeing?

As the “Everyday Tourist” I thought about sharing 365 photos taken in 2023, but that would be excessive. Then I thought perhaps I could edit it down to just 12 photos i.e. once a month, but that didn’t work, so I settled on 52 photos - one a week.

FYI: While that may seem like a lot, I expect most people will just glance at them for a few seconds, perhaps read a few captions and maybe stop and think about a couple.  We are all good at surfing these days.

For me the streets of a city, town or village are what makes them interesting places to flaneur aka explore. It might be the architecture – old and new. Or a funky shop window display. Or perhaps a surreal reflection of one glass office tower in another.  Or maybe graffiti, mural or public art.  It is whatever captures my interest at the moment.

So here is a summary of what I saw while flaneuring my way through 2023, from Kenora to St. Mary’s, from Winnipeg to Victoria and lots of places in between.

Hope you enjoy and all the best in 2024.

Last Word

Great cities and towns have great streets. Healthy cities and towns have great streets. A city or town’s streets should be their greatest attraction, for locals and tourists.
